Saint Anthony Maria Claret, the Founder of Claretian Congregation, was born in Salient, Spain, on 23rd December 1807. He was brought up in a devotedly religious family thus developed a deep devotion to Mother Mary. He, along with other five priests, founded the congregation of the Missionaries Sons of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary on 16th July 1849. He lived as an inspiring child, artistic youth, textile industrialist, and caring physician, merciful father, lover of the poor, humble missionary, unassuming Arch bishop and thus a man on fire with God’s love. He reached the heavenly abode on 24th October 1870, which is celebrated as his Feast Day.
The mission of the Claretian Educational Apostolate in India is: “To form intellectually competent, professionally skilled, spiritually evolved, morally upright, socially responsive and culturally appreciative citizens, through holistic Claretine education, for the creation of a civilization of love”.
St. Claret Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Thiruninravur was established in the year 2002 by the Claretians. The patron of the school is St. Antony Maria Claret. He worked for the upliftment of the poor, the down trodden, the neglected and the people who had no identity. He believed in the transformation of the society through building the youth and the unemployed. Education as one of the means to achieve this goal, the school serves the local children by giving them the best and holistic education. Though the school was started with 12 children, it has grown now to 1641 children from KG to XII standard in the academic year 2017 - 18.
The Claretians are missionaries committed to the building up of a just and enlightened society. They, as priests, brothers, sisters and lay-collaborators, are serving in sixty three countries in the world. Among their numerous ministries, which attend what are more urgent, timely and effective needs of the humanity, educational ministry is one which is prominently and efficiently carried out throughout their ministerial frontiers. The Claretian educational institutions educate the young in the ways of God, instilling in them a deep sense for moral values and social justice.
It contains the Motto of the school, which is “Let your light shine”. The book stands for the sacred scriptures. C.M.F. is the abbreviation, which addresses the Claretians as “the Sons of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary”. The Flame reminds us that we are called to shine forth with Knowledge and Love against ignorance and hatred.
St. Claret School is a co-educational school, well ventilated, spacious classroom with latest equipments and AV room are designed according to the needs of students, the school has a portable drinking water, the school provides a healthy and comfortable environment, and vast play ground with sufficient play materials. Class rooms are extremely large and spacious and are well furnished with sufficient fans everywhere.
